Julian Soja, owner and designer of Soyaton, a member of the Krakow Sonic Society, has just become an owner of a top-of-the-line turntable from J.Sikora, the Reference model. ⌈ Files are a topic that is of interest to almost everyone today. This is the most popular way of distributing music. But is it the best? Are record labels and producers able to offer more demanding listeners a high-end sound? We will try to answer these questions in the second KTS meeting dedicated to music files. This time will deal with PCM. ⌋ CM, i.e. Pulse Code Modulation, is a way of recording digital signal used in audio on CD, HDCD, DVD and BD discs. And also in music files. During the previous meeting of the Society, we looked at DSD files ripped from SACD discs (more HERE). This is one of the most popular methods of acquiring them, although it is deals with many problems – the ripping process largely depends on external factors that can change the sound. udiophiles love gadgets - we know that, right? Regardless of how much we would rationalize it, try to explain this weakness, we are particularly susceptible to logotypes, descriptions of techniques, new technologies, stories. But just because it is so common phenomenon is not worth to fight it, or to pretend to be something that we are not. Let's put it plain and simple: the so-called "price tag" is just as important to us as it is for those sitting at the catwalk during the Milan Fashion Week. | I. THE RESULTS OF OUR COMPETITION „COVER 2017” he "Cover 2017" competition announced in October is now going to the past. Let me remind you that the task for participants was to photograph the largest number of "High Fidelity" covers presented in the halls and exhibition rooms. This year, their common motif were the flags forming the background for the covers themselves, indicating the country from which the manufacturer of the device featured on the cover came from. Unlike last year, when one could find them mainly in the halls, this time the majority of them was hidden inside rooms, near and sometimes behind the presented systems. It made the search more difficult, but it also made it - I believe - more attractive. And there was another challenge - one of the covers was... brought to the Show by the distributor, so no one could find it ... However, it did not stop ...
